I will be working on more like this 5 years ago in an alternate reality where DA did not cancel their mosaic project. :P

Yes it is. It was made with DA mosaics (when it still excisted). It's made up of a whole lot of rectangular tiles. Each of the 8 artists have more or less taken turns making panels (without knowing what neighbouring panels had in them, only their edges to make them blend).
